Important: Due to the string muting technique used in this work, it cannot be performed on upright pianos. Some grand pianos may have support bars blocking access to some notes requiring the performer to make adjustments as necessary.
Sonic Reflection is a piece about questions and answers. It explores the complexities of faith through representations of doubt and confidence. Heavy use of the damper pedal and internal string sweeps create resonant sonorities that depict the ambiguous nature of doubt, while assuredness is embodied by moments of hymn textures and chant-like melodies. The twin characters interrupt, interact, and infect each other throughout, mimicking our natural processes of personal reflection and self-realization.
